毕业与就业

毕业前最后半年要同时推三件事：修完学分、找工作、处理身份。三件事任何一件拖到最后都会出事，而且顺序上互相牵连——找工作的时间线由招聘季决定，不是由你的毕业时间决定。

几条美国特有的时间规则，留学生的坑几乎都在这里：

第一，招聘季提前一年。 大公司的暑期实习（summer internship）在前一年八到十月就开始招；应届全职岗位（new grad）也在秋季开。等到春天再投，好岗位基本没了。

第二，毕业审核（degree audit）要自己盯着。 学校的系统不会主动提醒你"差一门课"。最后一学期发现自己少一个学分，是最常见的毕业事故，代价是延毕一学期。

第三，推荐人（reference / recommender）要提前三到四周问。 而且必须先问"你愿意吗"，再发材料，不能直接甩过去。

第四，身份问题（OPT / H-1B）有硬时限。 OPT 申请要在毕业前 90 天到毕业后 60 天之间提交，错过窗口就没有了。

这几个场景围绕你和学术顾问 Dr. Coleman、教授 Bennett、以及职业中心的顾问 Anna。

毕业审核：差一门课

Dr. Coleman（学术顾问） You（最后一学期，准备申请毕业）

1. degree audit 是自动生成的毕业审核表。

在 student portal 里能看到，列明所有要求、已完成、未完成。每学期都该跑一次，不要等最后。

2. 加课/退课有硬截止日。

Add deadline（加课）通常在第二周周五，drop deadline（退课）通常在第十周左右。过了就要走 petition（申请），不一定批。

3. 毕业清单（graduation checklist）是最该读的文件。

论文存档、毕业申请、费用结清、图书馆罚款——这些都写在上面。Nobody ever does 是实话，读了能省很多麻烦。

找推荐人：先问愿不愿意

1. 推荐信要"先问意愿，再发材料”。

正确顺序：口头或邮件问 Would you be willing… → 对方同意 → 一次性发齐所有材料。直接甩材料过去，教授会不高兴。

2. 要告诉教授"重点写什么"。

泛泛的推荐信没有分量。具体指出希望强调的经历（独立研究、某个项目、课堂表现），信才有用。

3. 一定要有备选推荐人。

Professors miss deadlines 是实话。至少两个能写的人，而且现在就要问，不能等。

4. 放弃查看权（waive）会让信更有分量。

美国申请系统里有一个"是否放弃查看推荐信的权利"的选项。选择放弃会被认为更可信，几乎所有人都放弃。

2. 简历写成果，不写职责。

Responsible for X 是无效表达；Cut X from A to B 才是。没有精确数字就用 about（大约）。

3. 内推（referral）是后期最有效的渠道。

校园招聘结束后，校友内推的成功率远高于海投。校友一般愿意帮忙，因为他们当年也被帮过。

4. 毕业时没 offer 是普遍现象。

About a third of the class doesn't have one —— 这不是安慰话，是统计事实。身份问题（OPT）要单独规划，不能只等 offer。

3. Say cheese 是拍照用语。

等于中文的"说茄子"。回应就直接说 Cheese 或者笑一下，不用翻译。

1. normal wear 和 damage 的区别决定押金。

正常磨损（normal wear）不能扣押金，损坏（damage）可以。 墙上的钉眼、地板划痕、地毯轻微磨损都属于正常磨损；破洞、烧痕、缺件属于损坏。

2. 押金退还通常有法定时限。

常见是 21 天或 30 天，各州不同。要留转发地址（forwarding address），否则房东没地方寄支票。

3. 退租检查（move-out walkthrough）最好在场。

房东检查时你在场，能当场确认哪些算损坏、要扣多少钱。不在场的话，事后争议很难说清。

4. 毕业前的二手交易是常规操作。

美国大学城有成熟的二手群（Facebook Marketplace、学校群组），桌子、椅子、台灯最好卖，床垫基本只能送。
