Hey, can I ask you a favor?→No pressure at all if you can't.
No pressure / Feel free to say no No worries, I'll figure it out.
Let me get this one. But the next one's mine.,这就是标准流程。
(I'll have it back to you by Friday.),还的时候顺手带点小东西(a six-pack、一杯咖啡、一盒甜点)是最常见的做法;弄坏了要第一时间主动说(I feel terrible — I broke the…),等人发现,性质就变了。
Can I borrow your charger? |
Any chance you could grab my mail? |
Can I ask you a favor? No pressure if you can't. |
Any chance I could borrow your car? |
You(在美工作的中国人,周三早班机) Dana(美国朋友,热心,但最近工作很忙)
You: Hey Dana — you got a sec?
Dana: Yeah, what’s up? I’ve got maybe five minutes before my next call.
You: Okay, so — can I ask you a favor? And no pressure at all if you can’t.
Dana: Uh-oh. Sure, shoot.
You: I’ve got a flight Wednesday morning and I’m still trying to figure out the airport run.
Dana: Oh yeah? What time’s the flight?
You: Eight. Which means I’d need to leave around five thirty. I know, I know.
Dana: Oof. Five thirty in the morning.
You: Yeah. Honestly, feel free to say no — I can just take an Uber, it’s like sixty bucks.
Dana: No, no, I can do it. I’m up at five anyway, unfortunately. Which terminal?
You: Terminal two. And it’s just one big bag and a backpack.
Dana: Okay, that fits. My trunk’s kinda a disaster right now, just so you know.
You: Ha, no worries. So — quarter to six at my place? Does that work?
Dana: Works for me. Text me the address the night before, just in case.
You: Will do. And coffee on the way is on me, obviously.
Dana: Ha, deal. Oh — and if I’m two minutes late, don’t panic. I’m always two minutes late.
You: Ha, I’ll try. And hey — if anything comes up, just text me and I’ll figure it out.
Dana: Nothing’s gonna come up. It’s early, but it’s one morning.
You: Seriously, though — thank you. This saves me a huge headache.
Dana: You’re good. Okay, I really gotta run. Later!
You: Go, go. Thanks, Dana.
|---|---|---|
| Hey, you got a sec? |
| Can I ask you a favor? Could you do me a favor?
| No pressure at all if you can’t. |
| Feel free to say no. | 不方便就直接说不行。
| I’m still trying to figure out the airport run. |
| Any chance you could give me a ride? | Any chance… 比 Can you…
| Would you mind driving?
| It’s not a big deal — I can take an Uber. |
| Works for me.
| Text me the address the night before.
| If anything comes up, just text me.
| You’re good.
Hey, you got a sec?(你有空吗)→ 再 Can I ask you a favor?(能请你帮个忙吗)→ 最后才说具体是什么事。
2. No pressure
No pressure at all. / Feel free to say no. / Totally fine if you can't. (Are you sure? Are you really sure?
I can just take an Uber
You(月底要搬家,想请邻居搭把手) Chris(邻居,人很好,周末本来有安排)
You: Hey Chris, you got a minute?
Chris: Yeah, what’s going on?
You: So, um — I’m moving at the end of the month, and there’s something I wanted to ask you. It’s kind of a big— actually, no, it’s not that big. Feel free to say no, seriously.
Chris: Okay…?
You: Would you be able to help me move on the twenty-eighth? It’s a Saturday. Not a whole day — three, four hours, tops.
Chris: The twenty-eighth. Hmm. What time were you thinking?
You: I mean, ten to two, something like that. Morning’s better — the truck’s cheaper.
Chris: Okay. And, uh, how much stuff are we talking?
You: Not that much. The couch is the worst part — three flights, no elevator.
Chris: Oh man. No elevator.
You: I know. That’s why I’m asking two weeks out instead of texting you the night before.
Chris: Ha, fair. I think I’m around that weekend. I just gotta check one thing with my wife — I’ll text you tonight.
You: Don’t say yes just to be nice, though. If it’s a bad weekend, I’ll ask someone else — one of my coworkers said he might be free.
Chris: No, I think I can do it. Oh hey, what else do you need — boxes, tape?
You: I’ve got boxes. A dolly would be huge, if you have one.
Chris: I’ve got one in the garage. I’ll bring it.
You: You’re a lifesaver. And I’m feeding everybody after — pizza and beer, whatever people want.
Chris: Now you’re talking. And you’re gonna owe me a pizza. That’s it.
You: Deal. And hey — if something comes up, just tell me, okay? No hard feelings.
Chris: Nothing’s gonna come up. I’ll text you tonight either way.
You: Thanks, Chris. You’re saving me, like, three hundred bucks on movers.
Chris: Ha! Then the pizza better be good.

Chris(邻居,先问一件小事,再问一件大事) You(这周赶项目,实在走不开)
Chris: Hey — you got a second? So, I’m gonna drive up to my parents’ tomorrow, and I need a small favor.

You: Yeah, sure, shoot.
Chris: Would you mind grabbing my mail while I’m gone? Just bring it inside so it doesn’t pile up.
You: Yeah, of course. How long are you gone?
Chris: Back Sunday night. So like four days.
You: Easy. Text me the code for your lock and I’ll grab ’em every day.

Chris: My sister’s moving Friday and I told her I’d help. Any chance you could come with me? It’s kind of an all-day thing.
You: Oh. Friday. … Man, I’d love to, but I’m slammed this week. I’ve got a deadline at five Friday and I’m already behind.
Chris: Ah, no worries. It was worth asking.
You: I feel bad, though. Is it just you and her?
Chris: Me, her, and her husband. And a piano, apparently.
You: A piano. Okay, now I feel worse.
Chris: Ha. Don’t. It’s fine, seriously.
You: Here’s the thing — if it were Saturday, I could do it. Friday I just can’t get out of work.

|---|---|---|
| Would you mind grabbing my mail?
| Any chance you could come with me?
| I’d love to, but I’m slammed this week. |
| I’ve got a deadline at five and I’m already behind. |
| It was worth asking. |
| I feel bad, though. |
| If it were Saturday, I could do it.
| Can I take a rain check? |
| You want me to text Emma?
| Ask me again next time — it’s just this Friday. |
| Anytime. |
| Mail, yes.
I'd love to, but…(软化)+ I've got a deadline Friday(具体理由)+ Can I take a rain check?(口子)。
2. I can't this time 比 I can't 好得多。
I wish I could, but I've got a work thing. / I'd love to, but I'm slammed this week. / I can't this time — rain check?
You(刚搬完家,想好好谢一次 Emma) Emma(帮了大忙的朋友,搬家那天来了一整天)
You: Hey, so — I’ve been meaning to say this all week. Thank you for last weekend. Seriously, you gave up your whole Saturday.
Emma: Oh, stop. It was half a Saturday. And you fed me.
You: That was pizza. Let me take you out for dinner — a real one. My treat.
Emma: You don’t have to do that.
You: I know I don’t have to. I want to. Friday? That Thai place you like?
Emma: Oh, I love that place. Friday might work — lemme check one thing.
You: For sure. Just text me.
Emma: Okay, this place is even better than I remembered. So how’s the new place — still living out of boxes?
You: Mostly unpacked. Kitchen’s still a disaster, but getting there.
Emma: Ha. No kidding. That took me two months.
You: Anyway — I wanted to say it again. You really bailed me out.
Emma: You would’ve done the same for me.
You: I’d like to think so. Still — I owe you one.
Emma: You don’t owe me anything. Seriously.
You: Well, let me get this one — and I’m not arguing about it.
Emma: Fine, fine. But the next one’s mine.
You: Deal. Oh — and this is for you.
Emma: What? You didn’t have to do that.
You: I know. It’s just a gift card for that coffee place you’re always at. It’s nothing.
Emma: Okay, that I’ll take. Thank you. And hey — you’re good. We’re even.
You: Ha. Okay. We’re even.

|---|---|---|
I do not know how to thank you. I really appreciate it. |
Thanks a lot.(语气一重) | 单独说出来常常是反讽 | Thanks so much. / I really appreciate it. |
No, no, you are too kind.(被谢时否认) | 中式"哪里哪里",在美国等于反驳对方 | Anytime. / Don't mention it. |
You are welcome.(回应道谢) | 不算错,但日常口语里已经偏正式 | No problem. / You got it. / Anytime. |
I will treat you to dinner. | treat 这么用不自然 | Let me take you out for dinner. / Dinner's on me. |
Let me pay, let me pay!(抢着付) | 推来推去很尴尬,美国人一般不这么干 | Let me get this one.
Please accept my small gift. | 太正式,像商务场合 | Oh — and this is for you. |
I must give you money for your help.
Thanks.(小事)→ Thanks so much, I really appreciate it.(真心,万能)→ I owe you one. / You're a lifesaver.(搬了一整天沙发这种大忙)。
You're good.
You don't owe me anything.
You(两周前借了 Chris 的电钻) Chris(邻居,工具的主人)
You: Hey Chris — here’s your drill back. Thanks again for letting me borrow it.
Chris: Oh, no problem. Did it work out?
You: Yeah, shelves are up. Barely level, but up. Um — but I gotta tell you something.
Chris: Uh-oh.
You: I broke one of the bits. The small one — it snapped. I feel terrible.
Chris: Oh, that. Yeah, those snap all the time. Don’t worry about it.
You: Still, my bad. I want to replace it — I already ordered a set, it gets here Thursday.
Chris: Dude, you didn’t have to do that.
You: It’s like twelve bucks. And these are for you.
Chris: Ha! A six-pack. Okay, now we’re even.
You: I figured that’d work better than an apology. Oh — and the ladder’s in your garage, same spot you had it. I said I’d have it back to you by Sunday, so.
Chris: You brought the ladder back too? No way. You’re two days early, man. Overachiever.
You: Ha. I just don’t wanna be that neighbor.
Chris: What neighbor?
You: The one who borrows your stuff and you never see it again.
Chris: Ha! I’ve had a few of those. Honestly, you can just grab the drill whenever — you don’t have to ask.
You: Appreciate that. Same with my stuff, seriously.
Chris: Good to know. Hey — thanks for the beer.
You: You bet. I’ll get out of your hair. Later!
Chris: Later!

I feel terrible — I broke the…。 Don't worry about it.,你再说一次 No, I want to replace it.,说一次就够,然后按自己说的做。

1. Can I ask you a favor?
can I 连读,ask you 里的 /k/ 和 /j/ 连起来接近 “ask-chu”。
2. No pressure.
Feel free to say no.
3. I owe you one.
owe you 读起来接近 /oʊju/。
4. You're good.
