|---|---|---|
| 小事故 | My bad. / Sorry about that.
| 中等 | I'm so sorry — that was totally on me.
| 严重 | I feel terrible. I'll pay for it.
Let me pay for a new one. / I'll Venmo you. 对方大概率会推一次——No, really, you don't have to.——这句是礼貌,不是拒绝,你再坚持一次(I insist.),对方说 Okay, fine.
I've been having a hard time sleeping this week. / I've been doing the dishes a lot lately. Could we split it?——I 开头说的是"我的感受和事实",You 开头说的是"你这个人有问题"。
We've been here about forty minutes(客观事实,对方没法反驳)→ Sorry, I think there might be a mix-up. / I'm not trying to be a pain, but…(软化)→ 说诉求。 Could I speak to the manager?——这句在美国是标准流程,不是撕破脸,服务员不会觉得被冒犯。
No worries. / It's all good. I appreciate you saying that. Sorry you feel that way.
You(中国人,约了老朋友吃饭) Marcus(美国朋友,已经在店里坐了二十分钟)
Marcus: Oh hey — there you are. I was starting to think you got lost.
You: Hey. Sorry I’m late. Twenty-five minutes late, actually. My bad.
Marcus: You’re fine. I just sat down, like, two minutes ago.
You: No, don’t do that. Don’t say you just sat down. I know you’ve been here.
Marcus: Okay, fine — twenty minutes. Happy?
You: Not happy. I just hate making people wait.
Marcus: Was it traffic?
You: The bridge. Total nightmare. I should’ve left at six.
Marcus: Yeah, the bridge is rough on Fridays. That’s why I almost bailed on this place.
You: You should have. I wouldn’t have blamed you.
Marcus: Nah, I wanted the tacos. Anyway — chips are coming.
You: You already ordered? Man. Now I feel worse.
Marcus: Don’t. I was hungry. It’s all good.
You: Okay, but the next one’s on me. Seriously, I owe you one.
Marcus: Deal. So what happened — you leave work late?
You: Kinda. I was gonna leave at six, and then my boss hit me with a “quick question.”
Marcus: Oh, the classic.
You: Twenty minutes later I’m still standing at his desk.
Marcus: Been there. My old manager pulled that at five fifty-five every day.
You: So, yeah — sorry again. I know your time matters too.
Marcus: I appreciate that. But seriously, we’re good. Go grab a menu.
|---|---|---|
| Sorry I’m late — the bridge was a nightmare. |
| My bad.
| You’re fine. |
| Don’t say that — I know you’ve been waiting. |
| I owe you one. |
| The next one’s on me. | on me = 我来付 |
| It’s all good. | 比 It’s fine 更暖 |
| We’re good.
Sorry I'm late — the bridge was a nightmare.
2. You're fine.
No worries. / It's all good.
You(中国人,借了朋友的充电器) Nina(美国朋友,说话直接,心不坏)
You: Hey — before we go in, I gotta tell you something.
Nina: Uh oh. That’s your “I broke something” voice.
You: It is. I’m so sorry — that was totally on me.
Nina: What happened? What’d you break?
You: Your charger. The white one. My water bottle leaked in my bag and it got soaked. It’s dead — I tried it this morning.
Nina: Oh man. That was my travel one.
You: I know. That’s the one you take everywhere. I feel awful.
Nina: Huh. Okay. Well — thanks for telling me.
You: I already found the same one online. It’s like twenty bucks.
Nina: For real? But you don’t have to do that.
You: No, come on. I broke it. I feel terrible. I’ll pay for it.
Nina: No, really, you don’t have to. It’s just a charger.
You: I insist. Let me pay for a new one. I’ll Venmo you right now.
Nina: …Okay, fine. Only because you already found the link.
You: Deal. Sending it now. (phone out) I’ve been sitting on this all morning, honestly.
Nina: You’re good. I’d have been way more annoyed if you’d just never said anything.
You: Yeah, that’s the thing — I wasn’t gonna hide it.
Nina: I know. That’s why it’s fine. Anyway, come in, I’m starving.
You: Also, dinner’s on me tonight. Non-negotiable.
Nina: Fine by me. Just don’t borrow my laptop.

|---|---|---|
I very sorry, I break your charger. | 少了 be 动词,也没说清责任 | I'm so sorry — that was totally on me. |
Sorry sorry sorry, it's all my fault. |
I will compensate you. | compensate 是保险、法律场合的词,朋友之间太生硬 | Let me pay for a new one. / I'll Venmo you. |
No need, no need, forget it. |
Please don't be angry with me. I'll pay for it. |
You(中国人,跟美国人合租) Marcus(室友,人很好,打游戏会喊)
You: Hey, Marcus — you got a sec?
Marcus: Yeah, what’s up? Coffee’s fresh.
You: Okay, so — this is kinda awkward. I’ve been having a hard time sleeping this week.
Marcus: Oh. Sorry, man. What’s going on?
You: No worries — you didn’t know. It’s the game. The volume carries right through the wall. And I’m not trying to be a jerk about it.
Marcus: No, no, you’re good. What time was it even? I lose track.
You: Last night it was like one in the morning. I’ve got work at seven.
Marcus: Okay, yeah, that’s bad. That’s on me.
You: You— okay, no. I almost started with “you always,” and that’s not fair. Let me say it right.
Marcus: No, say it. I’d rather hear it than have you quietly mad at me.
You: Okay. It’s just — I can hear everything. The shooting, the yelling at your teammates.
Marcus: Ha. Yeah, the yelling’s the worst part.
(laughs) You: It’s funny at nine. It’s not funny at one.
Marcus: Fair enough. So what do you need — headphones?
You: Headphones after midnight would honestly fix the whole thing.
Marcus: Done. I’ll use the headset. Anything else?
You: Uh — yeah, actually. Since we’re doing this. I’ve been doing the dishes a lot lately. Could we split it?
Marcus: Oh. Yeah, for sure. Every other day?
You: Every other day works. Thanks for hearing me out.
Marcus: Dude, the bad roommate is the one who says nothing and then hates you.
|---|---|---|
| You got a sec? |
| I’ve been having a hard time sleeping this week.
| It’s the game. The volume carries through the wall. |
| I’m not trying to be a jerk about it.
| I almost started with “you always,” and that’s not fair. |
| I’ve been doing the dishes a lot lately. Could we split it?
| Every other day works. |
| Fair enough. |
Hey, you got a sec? → I've been having a hard time sleeping. → Headphones after midnight would fix it. You never… / You always…
(I was gonna say — actually, never mind.),这在美国人听来是成熟,不是软弱。
You(中国人,八点还要赶电影) Marcus(一起吃饭的美国朋友) Kayla(这桌的服务员)
Marcus: Okay, it’s not just me, right? We’ve been here like forty minutes.
You: Not just you. I’ve been watching the door.
Marcus: You wanna say something, or should I?
You: I’ll do it. (waves Kayla over) Hey — sorry, I think there might be a mix-up.
Kayla: What’s going on?
You: We ordered about forty minutes ago and nothing’s come out. Not even the salads.
Kayla: Oh no. Let me check on that right now.
You: Thanks. I’m not trying to be a pain, I just —
Kayla: No, you’re fine. That’s on us. One second.
Kayla: Okay — sorry about that. Your ticket never made it to the kitchen. I just put it back in.
You: Okay. How long do you think?
Kayla: Fifteen, twenty minutes. I’m so sorry.
Marcus: Hmm. We’ve got a movie at nine.
You: Yeah, I mean, that’s the problem. We’ve been here about forty minutes already.
Kayla: I totally get it. What would you like me to do?
You: Could I speak to the manager? Not about you — I just wanna see if there’s anything they can do.
Kayla: Of course. I’ll go grab her.
Kayla: So — she’s taking the appetizers off and rushing your food. Ten minutes, tops.
You: That works. Thanks — and sorry for the hassle.
Kayla: No hassle at all. I’ll bring you some bread while you wait.
Marcus: Real question — are we still doing twenty percent?
You: Yeah. It wasn’t her fault. She fixed it.
|---|---|---|
| Sorry, I think there might be a mix-up.
| We ordered about forty minutes ago and nothing’s come out.
| I’m not trying to be a pain, but…
| Your ticket never made it to the kitchen.
| We’ve been here about forty minutes already. |
| Could I speak to the manager? |
| Not about you — I just wanna see what they can do.
| It wasn’t her fault. She fixed it.
|---|---|---|
| 1. 摆事实 | We ordered about forty minutes ago and nothing's come out.
| 2. 软化 | Sorry, I think there might be a mix-up. / I'm not trying to be a pain, but…
| 3. 说诉求 | Could you check on it? / How long do you think it'll be?
| 4. 升级 | Could I speak to the manager?
You(中国人,周六早上被朋友放鸽子) Marcus(美国朋友,睡过头没去送你)
Marcus: Hey. I brought coffee. And, um — I’m sorry about Saturday.
You: Oh. Thanks. … It’s fine.
……没事。
Marcus: Is it, though? Because I feel awful.
You: Honestly? Not totally fine.
Marcus: Okay. Tell me. I’d rather hear it.
You: I waited outside for twenty minutes at five in the morning. Then I paid sixty bucks for a car.
Marcus: I’ll pay you back. Right now. Sixty, plus whatever.
You: You don’t have to do that.
Marcus: No, I do. I’m sending it. And I’m sorry — like, actually sorry.
You: I appreciate you saying that.
Marcus: I set four alarms. I don’t even remember turning ’em off. My bad, man.
You: See, “my bad” is for spilling my coffee. Not for leaving me on a curb at five a.m.
Marcus: Yeah. Okay. That’s fair. That’s not enough.
You: I’m not trying to make you feel bad. I just want you to know it actually cost me something, you know?
Marcus: No, I’m glad you said it. My sister does that thing — “sorry you feel that way.”
You: Oh, that one. That’s not an apology. That’s “your feelings are the problem.”
Marcus: Right? Anyway — dinner’s on me this week. I mean it.
You: Okay, fine. But I’m picking the place.
Marcus: Deal. And next time I’ll set ten alarms.
You: Just text me. Even at five a.m. … We’re good.
|---|---|---|
| It’s fine.
| Is it, though?
| Honestly? Not totally fine. |
| I appreciate you saying that.
| That’s not enough. |
| “My bad” is for spilling my coffee.
| I’m not trying to make you feel bad. |
| Sorry you feel that way.
1. It's fine.
2. I appreciate you saying that.
I appreciate you saying that. / I appreciate the apology.。 Sorry you feel that way.——那不是道歉,是把责任推回给你的感受,可以不接。
