Who are you here to see?。
Ticket agent(场馆售票窗口的售票员) You(想买两张票,但一堆问题)
Ticket agent: Hi, how can I help you?
You: Hi. I’m trying to get tickets for the show on the fourteenth. Are they still available?
Ticket agent: Let me check… Yeah, we’ve got some left. Were you looking for general admission or reserved seating?
You: What’s the difference, exactly?
Ticket agent: General admission is standing — no seats, first come first served. Reserved means you get a section, a row, and a seat number.
You: Is general admission cheaper?
Ticket agent: A little. But if you want to be up front, you have to get in line early. Hours early for a big show.
You: Yeah, I’m not doing that. My back can’t handle three hours of standing. Let’s do reserved.
Ticket agent: Smart. I’ve got upper level and floor seats. Floor’s closer, upper level’s cheaper.
You: How much is the difference?
Ticket agent: It’s a decent jump. The floor seats are the pricier ones.
You: Speaking of fees — why is the service fee so much? Online it was like a quarter of the ticket price.
Ticket agent: Yeah, I know. It’s a facility fee plus a ticketing fee. It’s not us, but it’s on every ticket.
You: So it’s the same wherever I buy?
Ticket agent: Not exactly. Online there’s an extra convenience fee. Buying here at the window, you skip that one.
You: Oh, good to know. Okay, I’ll take two in the upper level. Oh — and I tried a presale code online and it didn’t work.
Ticket agent: Presale codes are for a specific window. They expire. The general sale’s open now, so you don’t need one.
You: Got it. Can I get them on my phone, or do I pick them up here?
Ticket agent: Either one. I can print them, or they go to your phone. Most people just use the mobile ticket.
You: Mobile’s fine. Oh — if my friend can’t come, can I give the ticket to someone else?
Ticket agent: Yeah, use the transfer option in your account. Just don’t send a screenshot — screenshots don’t always scan, and they’re easy to fake.
You: Okay, I’ll use the transfer thing. What if my phone dies that night?
Ticket agent: Come to the box office with your ID and the card you paid with. We can look it up.
You: Great. So if I buy online next time, I can pick them up at this window?
Ticket agent: Same window, right here. That’s what will call is — just bring the card and an ID.
You: Perfect. Thanks for explaining all that.

| That’s what will call is. | will call 的定义 |
3. will call
名字来自老说法"will call for it"(会来取)。
4. nosebleeds
Security(场馆入口的安检员) You(第一次来这个场馆,带了个普通背包)
Security: Bags over here, please. Everything out of your pockets.
You: Sure. Do I need to take my belt off?
Security: Belt’s fine. Just empty your pockets into the bin.
You: Okay. Phone, keys, wallet… and my water bottle. Is that okay?
Security: No, sorry — no outside drinks. You can toss it or take it back to your car.
You: Oh, I didn’t know. Can I leave it here and grab it after?
Security: We can’t hold anything for people. Sorry.
You: Okay, I’ll toss it. What about my bag — is this one okay?
Security: Let me see… No, it’s not a clear bag. The policy is clear bags only, and there’s a size limit.
You: Really? Even a small purse?
Security: Small clutches are usually fine — about the size of your hand. Anything bigger has to be clear.
You: Hmm. I didn’t see that anywhere.
Security: It’s on the venue website under bag policy. They email it too.
You: Okay. Can I run it back to the car?
Security: You can, but you’d have to go through this line again. And there’s no re-entry, so do it now, not later.
You: Right. Do you have a bag check anywhere?
Security: Not tonight, no. Smaller shows sometimes do, but not this one.
You: Okay, I’ll take it back. What about cameras? I’ve got a small one.
Security: Point-and-shoot is usually fine. No professional cameras, no detachable lenses. And no selfie sticks.
You: Mine’s just a little digital camera. Should be fine, then?
Security: Should be. If somebody stops you inside, it’s because of the lens.
You: Got it. Do I keep my shoes on through the metal detector?
Security: Shoes stay on. Just step through. If it beeps, we’ll check you again.
You: Okay. It beeped last time because of my belt buckle.
Security: That happens. Go ahead and step through.

|---|---|---|
I want to bring my water. | want to 像在提要求,安检只认规定 | Can I bring a water bottle in? |
Can I put my bag here? | 太模糊,安检员不知道你要存还是要放 | Do you have a bag check? |
My bag is very small. | 大小不是理由,规定看的是透明不透明 | Is this bag small enough to bring in? |
I will come back to take it. | 中式直译,而且没说清什么时间来拿 | Can I leave it here and grab it after? |
Can I go out and in again? | 缺宾语和连词,听着别扭 | Can I go out and come back in? |
I don't know this rule. | 说"我不知道"没用,问规定在哪才有用 | Where is the bag policy posted? |
This camera is not professional. | 说法太主观,安检看的是镜头 | Is a small digital camera okay? |
Must I take off my belt? | must 太硬,像在质疑规定 | Do I need to take my belt off? |
You should keep my bottle. | should 像命令,而且安检不负责寄存 | Can you hold this for me? |
1. clear bag
2. no re-entry
Usher(看台区的引座员) You(第一次来这个场馆)
Usher: Tickets? Let me see. Okay, section 214. Right this way.
You: Thanks. Is it up the stairs?
Usher: Up those stairs and to your left. Your seats are right on the aisle.
You: Great. Quick question — can I go out and come back in? I left something in the car.
Usher: No re-entry, sorry. Once you’re in, you’re in.
You: Okay, good to know. Where’s the merch table?
Usher: Downstairs, by the main entrance. Get there before the show starts if you want a shirt — the line gets long after.
You: Okay, I’ll go now. What time does the opening act start?
Usher: Doors were at seven, opener’s at eight, and the main act usually goes on around nine.
You: So I’ve got time. How long is the show usually?
Usher: About two hours, plus the encore.
You: The encore — do we have to do something for that?
Usher: You just cheer and keep cheering. They come back out if the crowd’s loud enough.
You: Good to know. Can I bring a drink to my seat?
Usher: Yeah, if it’s in a cup from the concession stand. No bottles.
You: And pictures?
Usher: Phone pictures, sure. No flash, and don’t film the whole show — they’ll stop you.
You: Okay. One more — where’s the restroom?
Usher: Right behind section 214. You’ll see the sign.
You: Perfect. Thanks a lot.
Usher: Enjoy the show.

1. merch
T 恤、帽子、海报都叫 merch(merchandise 的缩写)。
2. encore
3. concession stand
Fan(坐在你旁边的歌迷,比你早到) You(第一次看这个乐队的现场)
Fan: Hey — is anyone sitting here?
You: No, go ahead.
Fan: Thanks. So who are you here to see?
You: The main band. I’ve been listening to them for years.
Fan: Yeah? How long have you been a fan?
You: Maybe five, six years. A friend back home got me into them.
Fan: Nice. Is this your first time seeing them live?
You: Yeah, first time. I’ve watched the concerts online, but that’s not the same.
Fan: Oh, it’s so much better live. Wait till the third song — the whole place goes crazy.
You: Really? Which one?
Fan: You’ll know it. Just watch the crowd.
You: Okay. Have you seen them before?
Fan: This is my third time. First time was when I was in college.
You: Oh nice. Where are you from?
Fan: Here, actually. Grew up about twenty minutes away. What about you?
You: China originally. I live in the city now.
Fan: Oh cool. How’d you hear about them?
You: A friend, and the radio, honestly. They’re on all the time.
Fan: Do you know how long the opener plays?
You: Usually thirty, forty minutes, I think. Then they change the stage over.
Fan: Good. Hey, do you know if they do an encore?
You: They always do. People just start cheering and they come back out.
Fan: Then I’m staying till the lights come on.
You: Same. Oh — the lights are going down. Have fun!
Fan: You too. Enjoy the show!

|---|---|---|
You are here to see who? | 中文语序直译,英语里不这么说 | Who are you here to see? |
I like them very much. | very much 的位置和语气都很中式 | I've been a fan for years. |
I am their fan for five years. | 时态错了,要用现在完成时 | I've been a fan for about five years. |
This is my first time to see them. | 应该是 seeing,不是 to see | This is my first time seeing them live. |
The scene is very crazy. | scene 指"场面、场景",现场气氛用 crowd | The whole place goes crazy. |
I very like this song. | very 不能直接修饰动词 | I really like this song. |
Where you come from? | 疑问句缺助动词 | Where are you from? |
Please enjoy yourself. | 命令语气,怪 | Enjoy the show! |
I will not leave until the light open. | 中式直译,light 也不对 | I'm staying till the lights come on. |
Who are you here to see? → How long have you been a fan? → Is this your first time seeing them live?。
2. get me into them 是"带我入坑"。
A friend got me into them.
4. Have fun! 和 Enjoy the show!
Tyler(跟你一起来看演出的朋友) You(刚散场,人还在往外涌)
You: That was so good. My ears are still ringing.
Tyler: Right? Worth every penny. Okay — what’s the plan? You want to beat the crowd?
You: Yeah, let’s go. Where’d we park again?
Tyler: The garage on Fifth. Which is gonna be a mess right now.
You: How bad?
Tyler: Last time it took us forty minutes just to get out of the garage.
You: Okay, then let’s hang back for a few minutes. Let people clear out.
Tyler: Yeah, I’m good with that. You want to hit the merch table first?
You: No, the line’s insane. I’ll get a shirt online.
Tyler: Fair. So — rideshare, or do you want to try the train?
You: What time’s the last train?
Tyler: I don’t know. Let me check… I can’t get a signal. Everybody’s on their phone.
You: Classic. I think it’s around twelve-forty.
Tyler: Then we’ve got time. Where’s the rideshare pickup here?
You: Not at the front door. They moved it to the other side of the building, by the parking lot.
Tyler: Of course they did. Is it far?
You: Like a five-minute walk. And it’s gonna be packed. Surge pricing, probably.
Tyler: Yeah, I figured. Let’s just take the train. It’s cheaper.
You: Works for me. But we should walk straight there — no standing around.
Tyler: Agreed. Stay for the encore, then go.
You: Deal. Oh — you got everything? Phone, wallet, keys?
Tyler: Yeah. Wait — my jacket. It was on the seat.
You: It’s on your arm, man.
Tyler: Oh. Okay, we’re good. Let’s go.
You: Hey — thanks for dragging me out. I would’ve just stayed home.
Tyler: Told you it was worth it. Next time we get floor seats.
You: Next time you’re paying.

|---|---|---|
| 自己开车 | We're in the garage on Fifth.
| 网约车 | Where's the rideshare pickup?
| 地铁 / 火车 | What time's the last train?
| 走路 / 拼车 | Let's just walk a few blocks first.
4. beat the crowd 和 hang back 是相反的两招。
Let's beat the crowd.

1. concert
2. garage
3. ticket
4. transfer
Can I transfer it?
Who are you here to see?
